About
About Aspen Grove Integrative Law
Aspen Grove Integrative Law is a Durango-based law firm offering employment law, estate planning, and mediation through a more thoughtful, human approach to legal counsel.
We believe legal issues rarely exist in isolation. They affect our families, relationships, work, values, finances, and sense of what comes next.
Integrative law asks us to look at that whole picture.
Whether we are helping someone navigate a difficult workplace conflict, prepare their family for the future, or resolve a dispute through mediation, our goal is the same: to help people slow down, understand their options, and make thoughtful decisions that align with what matters most to them.
Why Aspen Grove?
Like a grove of aspens, our lives and all parts of our lives are interconnected.
The decisions we make during difficult or important moments rarely affect us alone. They ripple through our families, workplaces, relationships, and communities.
That idea sits at the heart of our approach to law: understand the whole picture, consider the people involved, and help clients make decisions with intention rather than simply reacting to a legal problem.
Our Story
After working together since 2006 and attending law school together as a married couple, Dave and Eleni Albrechta opened their law practice in Durango, Colorado in 2015. Over the next decade, they built a practice serving individuals and families through employment disputes, litigation, estate planning, business matters, and other important legal transitions.
Eleni developed and led the firm's estate-planning practice, working with families throughout Southwest Colorado for nearly ten years. Dave's practice became increasingly focused on employment law and litigation.
Over time, both began questioning some of the assumptions underlying traditional legal practice—particularly the tendency to reduce complicated human experiences to legal problems that lawyers are expected to solve.
That exploration eventually led to the integrative law movement and, in 2024, the transformation of the firm into Aspen Grove Integrative Law.
Today, Eleni has stepped completely away from the practice of law and works with individuals through Tallgrass Collective. Dave continues Aspen Grove's legal practice, bringing together more than a decade of legal experience with training in mediation and professional coaching.
He is also carrying forward the estate-planning practice Eleni built, approaching planning through the same integrative philosophy that now guides all of Aspen Grove's work.
While the practice has changed, the underlying purpose has become clearer: help people use the law thoughtfully in service of the life they want to live.

In his first nine years as an attorney, Dave assisted people in the areas of general civil litigation, employment law, and business planning and consulting. Representing hundreds of people in private negotiations and multiple courts and agencies, Dave noticed a pattern. Because our traditional adversarial system focuses only on monetary compensation, clients often leave this process feeling that they did not receive "justice" or that the underlying wrongs are still raw and not healed.
In 2023, Dave began exploring other ways of being a lawyer - of bringing kindness, collaboration, and cooperation to the law. He crafted a blueprint for how he could help clients heal from the traumas they've experienced, instead of fighting for years for a resolution that addresses only financial wholeness. This ultimately led to Dave and Eleni's discovery of the integrative law movement. In 2024, they renamed their firm Aspen Grove Integrative Law.
Dave's goal is to help clients find meaningful resolutions through peaceful means and to avoid the adversarial legal system. He combines legal wisdom with love and compassion to provide balanced assistance through complicated situations.
