Estate Planning

More than documents.

A plan for what matters most.

Estate planning is often treated as a paperwork exercise: prepare a will, sign a power of attorney, create a trust, and put everything in a binder.

We believe that planning for death should be much more than that.

At Aspen Grove Integrative Law, we help individuals and families in Durango, Southwest Colorado, and throughout Colorado, create thoughtful estate plans that reflect not only what they own, but what they value.

That means preparing the legal documents you need while also considering the human questions that come with planning for incapacity and death:

  • What matters most to you?

  • How do you want your family cared for?

  • Who do you trust to make difficult decisions?

  • Are there conversations with loved ones that need to happen now?

  • What do you want your family to understand about the decisions you have made?

  • What do you hope to leave behind beyond money and property?

During the consultation we'll get to know each other, talk about your family, your assets, your concerns, and what you would like your estate plan to accomplish.

At the end of the meeting, we'll recommend an appropriate planning path and explain the flat fee packages available for completing your plan.

If you decide to work with us, your $250 consultation fee will be credited toward your estate-planning package.

Integrative Law and Estate Planning

Our integrative approach combines traditional estate-planning counsel with the values-centered philosophy of integrative law.

We begin by understanding your family, your circumstances, and your goals. From there, we help you create a legal plan that reflects those priorities and, where helpful, prepare for the conversations that make the plan meaningful in real life.

Depending on your needs, your estate plan may include wills, trusts, financial and medical powers of attorney, advance directives, guardianship planning, beneficiary and asset planning, and other appropriate documents.

But the documents are not the goal.

The goal is a thoughtful plan that gives you clarity now and makes things easier for the people you love later.

“Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it.”
